In 2012, Silvino Perez went to the Community Regional Medical Center in Downtown Fresno needing heart surgery. Perez never returned home. The surgeon, Dr. Pervaiz Chaudhry, did not finish the operation and closed up the 70-year-old’s chest, which resulted in severe injury to the patient. Unable to stand by silently as patients were harmed, a previous medical employee chose to speak up against the surgeon’s practices at the cost of his job. Perez’s surviving family filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against Dr. Chaudhry.
