A Madison County woman is suing Huntsville Hospital and unnamed medical and pharmacy personnel alleging that her young daughter was given the wrong anti-seizure medication during a hospital stay and then lapsed into a coma.
The lawsuit filed today alleges that during a June 2012 hospital stay the child was prescribed the drug Trileptal, but was given another drug, Tegretol instead and the child fell into a comatose state after receiving the medication at least three times.
The complaint against the Healthcare Authority of the City of Huntsville and the other parties was filed on behalf of Angel Martin by her mother Nakita Waters.
A Huntsville Hospital spokeswoman said this afternoon the hospital does not comment on litigation.
